Sir, I am writing to tell you and your readers about Tenovus Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Every year as part of our fundraising we hold our own breast cancer awareness campaign, where everything turns pink for the month and we engage our communities in our pink fundraising activities. This year, Tenovus are holding a number of bucket collections across West Wales, to help fund our services. We are eagerly looking for volunteers for a collection we have in Sainsburys, Tenby, on Saturday, October 11. If you would like to help at our Buckets for Boobs collections please contact me, your local community fundraiser, on 07776 760769 or you can register your interest at http://www.tenovus.org.uk/breastcancer">http://www.tenovus.org.uk/breastcancer. Tenovus has a long history in the field of breast cancer research and it was in fact work carried out by the Tenovus Institute for Cancer Research in the 1970s that led to the development of Tamoxifen - the world's most widely used breast cancer drug. And more recently one of our PhD students had a major breakthrough and identified a way of selectively destroying the ability of breast cancer cells to spread. And not only are we funding the next generation of cancer researchers, we are also providing very real and practical ways to support patients in Wales today. We also offer practical support to all cancer patients. Last year our Cancer Support team helped nearly 2,800 breast cancer patients through our Cancer Support Line, our Mobile Cancer Support units that provide treatments to patients closer to home and through our Sing With Us Choirs. Breast cancer is still the most common cause of cancer for women in Wales, with around 2,400 women and 15 men diagnosed each year, but with your support we can make a real difference. If holding a bucket is not your thing, we are also looking for anyone to hold a Pink event this October to raise funds for Tenovus Cancer Charity. This could be at work, school, college or with family and friends. Make it fun, Make it Pink and help cancer patients in Wales. Meinir Lewis, Community Fundraiser -West Wales
