The February meeting of the Tenby Visually Impaired People Group, held on Tuesday, took the form of the annual general meeting. Chairman, John Webb, welcomed everyone, and the role call revealed 18 members present.
Secretary, Margaret Walker, read the minutes of the last AGM, which was followed by her report outlining the various activities during 2008.
The financial report indicated a healthy balance, and John thanked both the secretary and the treasurer for all their hard work.
The election of officers resulted in most remaining in post, i.e. John Webb - chairman, Margaret Walker - secretary, Betty Gordon - treasurer, and Eva Rich - press secretary.
It was proposed that Jim Hatcher be made president in recognition of all his hard work and service to the group since its formation in 1999, and therefore Mavis Owen was voted vice-chairman.
The future programme was discussed, together with the possibility of outings during the summer.
Welcome refreshments were served by Margaret and Ellen from Tenby Inner Wheel, and this month's raffle winners were Iris Roblin, Jean Brace and Stuart Jones.
Project worker, Tom Forgaard then took on the role of Chris Tarrant for a Who Wants to be a Millionaire type quiz, and the PBS minibus and Saundersfoot Rotary Club then took members home after an enjoyable afternoon.
The next meeting is on Tuesday, March 17, and if any visually impaired person would like to join the group, please contact Margaret Walker on 843464.
