A new consultation has been launched today by Pembrokeshire County Council.
The council is working to set its corporate priorities or well-being and budget objectives for 2018-19 and beyond, and is seeking views from members of the public on its draft plans.
Clr. David Simpson, leader of the council, explained why it was important for the authority to find out people’s views on well-being priorities.
“We are revising our corporate priorities that we set in 2017-18, and are using new information on future trends which has become available in the past year,” he said.
“The purpose of these objectives is to make it easier for us to meet our duty to undertake sustainable development.
He added: “Our well-being objectives will be used to help set budgets and prioritise actions.
“This has become increasingly important in recent years, as the amount of money made available from Welsh government to councils to provide local services diminishes.”
Clr. Bob Kilmister, cabinet member for finance, said views are also being sought on budget objectives - specifically, the authority’s medium term financial plan and council tax.
“While we set a budget each financial year, our longer term financial plans are outlined in our medium term financial plan 2017–2022,” he said. “The plan helps us to take a longer term view of both our corporate and financial planning commitments.
“We want to know the public’s views on both this and council tax levels for 2018-19.”
