As a frequent visitor to Lawrenny, Angela Burns AM is delighted by the village's recent win in the 2007 Calor Village of the Year competition. "Lawrenny is one of the most beautiful villages in Pembrokeshire, but this is not why it has won this major award," she pointed out. "This competition was all about community spirit and keeping villages vibrant, rather than pretty flowerbeds and tidy village greens. "Lawrenny villagers fought tooth and nail to prevent their post office from closing and have also succeeded in setting up a community shop. Their successes put many, much bigger, communities to shame."
