Recent acts of vandalism in Saundersfoot have been slammed by the community, leaving the seaside village’s floral organisation, blooming mad.

Saundersfoot in Bloom received ‘infuriating and maddening’ news last week when planters on Brewery Terrace were found to have been damaged, likely deliberately and were beyond repair.

“We, a small group of volunteers, had been riding high since our Gold Award from ‘Wales In Bloom’ and this came as a huge shock,” said Julie Davies from Saundersfoot in Bloom.

“As a small, local charity we fundraise to be able to place and plant up such pots for the benefit of everyone living in and visiting the village and had not long enjoyed colourful floral displays and were planning the winter planting scheme.

“We used our Facebook page to help spread the word and to ask the community to bear with us while we worked out if any were salvageable, and if we could afford to replace them.

“The support and offer of donations received from both home and away, online and in-person, continues to be hugely appreciated.

“We hope to set up an online fundraising page and, together, we will have Saundersfoot blooming again soon.

“In the words of Audrey Hepburn ‘To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow’. You can follow our Facebook page to see how we get on!” she added.
