After a spate of vandalism in Tenby at the weekend, the town's Deputy Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown, has issued a plea for a local carpenter and joiner to come forward and offer their services during the night to repair broken windows.

Her appeal came at Tuesday night's meeting of the town council after the Wood Shop in Upper Frog Street was the victim of such an incident during the early hours of Sunday morning.

"The owners of the shop were called out after vandals had put their window through, but once the police had checked that everything was in order and nothing stolen, the proprietors were left to make their own arrangements to board up the shop," she explained.

"I thought that it might be an idea if a local carpenter and joiner could come forward and offer a 24-hour service to prevent incidents like this, as the shop owners had to obviously stay and guard the premises overnight until someone was available the next morning to board up the window," she said.
