TWO local teenagers will be appearing on television this week when the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain's Prom is shown on BBC2.
Flautist Catherine Hare, who attends Chethams School of Music but is from Saundersfoot, and violinist Lily Whitehurst, a pupil of Greenhill School, are both in their second year with the orchestra, which has given them the opportunity to perform with some world renowned conductors in concert venues all over the country.
The Prom concert at the Royal Albert Hall is the culmination of two weeks of intensive rehearsal with the Russian conductor Vladimir Jurowski and features a Concerto for Turntables with DJ Switch as well as the more conventional Britten Piano Concerto and Prokoviev's Romeo and Juliet.
Whilst on the course, the orchestra were filmed by the BBC as an insight into what goes on behind the scenes, and Lily was lucky enough to be chosen as one of the main subjects of the film. This, along with the Prom, can be seen tomorrow (Saturday) on BBC2 at 9 pm.
