Sir, Further to last week's Tenby Observer report '£39m plan to improve Withybush Hospital', without doubt this is great news for the people of Pembrokeshire, however, for the 40 odd people, including two people from my village, who currently have to travel two or three times a week to Carmarthen for their renal dialysis treatment, the thought of another two years of travelling several times a week must be completely unacceptable. I would ask Pembrokeshire and Derwen NHS Trust management to urgently consider the use of a temporary building such as a portacabin type building. These buildings can be constructed and put into service within days, which could then be used to provide dialysis treatment to these patients at Withybush Hospital or perhaps even the new South Pembrokeshire Hospital. It is my understanding that Carmarthenshire NHS Trust currently provide renal dialysis treatment to their patients (including our own Pembrokeshire patients) from a portacabin type building, so why can't our hospital trust do the same? This is an urgent problem that should be addressed now - not in two years time.
