Patients who accessed an emergency dental service in South Pembrokeshire said they were happy and confident with the treatment they received.
Westgate House Dental Practice in Pembroke recently undertook a patient spot audit during their weekend urgent access dental sessions.
The audit asked about the dental care received, the process of making the urgent appointment and how the process could be improved upon.
All of the 13 patients asked to complete this audit indicated they were happy and confident with the treatment they received.
The patients accessed the urgent appointments via NHS Direct and no negative feedback was given in relation to the ease of accessing appointments.
A number of patient responses indicated that the process was 'very easy' and that is should be 'kept the same'. All patient responses indicated that the treatment received had been successful and had alleviated their pain.
Elaine Lorton, head of primary care and dental, said: "NHS Direct allows for the patient's dental symptoms to be clinically assessed, with appointments being booked during the weekend, if appropriate dependant on patient location and appointment availability.
"This system also allows for the patient to be seen by a dental clinician with appropriate skills and knowledge to allow for successful treatment to be received."
NHS Direct Wales also has an online dental checker if you are unsure of what treatment is best for you at http://www.nhsdirect.wales.nhs.uk/doityourself/dentalsymptomchecker">www.nhsdirect.wales.nhs.uk/doityourself/dentalsymptomchecker
