The excellent sum of £300 was raised recently at an Attic and Garage Sale in the stable yard at Foxcombe House, Manorbier.

The headmistress of Manorbier VCP School, Jackie Greenhouse, who received the cheque from Pearl and Andrew McCabe, has earmarked the money to buy new books for the much used school library.

Lovely weather helped the sale get underway with customers from far and wide browsing and buying in the spring sunshine. The stalls were manned and 'wo-manned' by Pat Price (flowers and gifts), Tessa Bishop (jewels and treasures), Pam and Gerald Codd (books and magazines), Pat Henderson (china, glass and linen), Bruce Price (housewares and hardware) and Mo Sutton, with some hard-working staff, selling home-made cakes and coffee.

Some customers were content with bags of homemade fudge or a good book, but one visitor was able to take away a computer. Many purchased earrings, while one lady was able to refurbish her kitchen at the sale.

The final customer of the day went off delighted with enough bits and pieces from 'Housewares and Hardwares' to construct eight-foot garden wind chimes, all for under a pound.

The organisers, Pearl and Andrew McCabe, would like to thank everyone who came along to support the event.

Other events are being planned in Manorbier to aid fund the school. Look out for details on local notice-boards and then go along and help a good cause whilst having fun.
