Sir,

I wondered if this photograph might be of interest to your readers.

We had three redwings in our garden last weekend and they ate a lot of grain.

It would be interesting to hear from other people who have seen any unusual birds (feathered) in their garden or seen any on their walks? Photos would be nice.

PS. As I was walking up the Norton to post this to you, there was a flock of redwings, possibly 40, on the bank opposite the Telephone Exchange.

Editor - Re. other unusual birds, your wish is our command, for we also received the picture below of a long-beaked bird in a garden at Hunters Park, New Hedges.

It is believed to be a snipe, which are medium-sized, skulking wading birds with short legs and long straight bills.

In the UK, they are most commonly found on northern uplands.

This one spent several hours foraging in the garden last Saturday morning.
