Unsightly street lighting in one of Tenby's iconic areas needs a rethink, according to one local councillor.
Clr. Mrs. Trisha Putwain has taken a dim view of the street lighting used at the town's Castle Hill and previously put in a request for Pembrokeshire County Council to have a look it, which she likened to looking like "lavatory brushes".
Now the county council's director of transportation and environment, Mr. Ian Westley, says that an inspection of the lighting has been carried out and that a painting programme has been scheduled for the area, with any defective lighting repaired.
However, Clr. Mrs. Putwain believes that the style of lighting used there still remains a problem.
"The cast iron lights still look rather silly next to such an iconic area as the bandstand, so I think they need to look at the style of them first before carrying out any paintwork on them," she told her colleagues at last week's meeting of the town council.
"Maybe the county council could look at introducing some environmentally friendly lighting in that area," she added.
