Tenby United Youth travelled to Pembroke Dock on Saturday with a few players short due to half-term holidays and injuries. The home side were in a worse position, only managing to put 11 players on the park. The league rules state that a team has to field a minimum of 12 players for the game to be accepted as a league fixture. It was agreed that the league points would be awarded to Tenby and that a friendly fixture would be played, with Tenby players joining the Dock side to even the numbers. The resulting match was full of mistakes and missed tackles from both sides. Tenby opened the scoring with a couple of tries, one from Grant Rogers and the other from captain Geoff Martin, which Steve Handicott converted. John Sheasby was stopped just short of the line after a strong run, but Nick Drewett finished off the move with a good try. Pembroke Dock found players from somewhere and brought them on to make up their team. Tenby no longer had things all their own way and went off the boil, with relaxed play in midfield allowing the Dock to run in three tries. Ben Field-Thomas scored for Tenby just before half-time, while Steve added the extra points to make it 24-17 in the Seasiders' favour. Tenby again opened the scoring in the second half through a try by Ben and a conversion from Steve. However, they ran out of steam, missing tackles and dropping passes, and from here on in, it was all points to Pembroke Dock, with three tries and a conversion. This produced a final score 34-31 to the home side. Tenby team: Nick Rowe, Nick Griffiths, Mathew Miller, Aled Griffiths, Jonathon Lewis, Ben Field-Thomas, Steve Handicott, Rhys Thomas, Sam Smith, John Sheasby, Mike Cockburn, Grant Rogers, Craig Magee, Joe Smith, Geoff Martin, Nick Drewett, Mavin Thomas. There's no match this week due to the Wales v South Africa match in Cardiff.
