THE Gallery at St. Brides in Saundersfoot is delighted to present a contemporary art exhibition featuring Ian Lindsay-Edwards. The exhibition opens today (Friday) and runs until October 31. The Gallery at St. Brides is open all week.
Ian Lindsay-Edwards is one of the most important painters working within the British Romantic landscape tradition today. He has won a series of major international awards and has three times been a prize winner at the Observer Newspaper Hunting Awards.
His work features in public and private collection in Europe and North America, including The Flemmings Merchant Bank collection, The Munich Collection in Germany, the James Ludwig Collection in San Francisco and The Charles de Gaulle Cultural Centre of Arts in Foix, France.
He spent much of 1999 completing the major commissioned work for the new BAT headquarters in London. To visit Lindsay-Edwards' East London studio is a rare and unforgettable experience. The walls are hung with paintings of extraordinary power. They reveal the artist's rare mastery of the language and skills of painting, his unique vision and emotional range.
Ian Lindsay-Edwards acknowledges a debt to the great masters of the 19th Century British Romantic Movement and indeed to the American abstract expressionists of the 20th Century. Rather than turning away from these great periods of art, he seeks to build them through his own contemporary vision.
