Sir,

I read with interest the remarks in the Tenby Observer of the newly-elected councillor regarding the refusal of planning permission for a gypsy pitch in Clayford Road. He is proud the countryside has been protected from this unacceptable intrusion.

It's a shame he doesn't consider the plans to put the new civic amenities site right next door to Brooklands Home as an unacceptable intrusion into the countryside and into the lives of the residents of the home.

This in fact will turn the site into an industrial area and who knows what will be next.

The traffic snarl-ups caused by users trying to enter and exit the site at busy times will cause mayhem.

The noise and smell of the predicted 240 or more cars, plus heavy trucks to move the skips, plus the crushing machines, will not (he thinks) affect the residents of Brooklands Home, nor will the flies or the smell of rotting mattresses and carpets or the compost bins or bags of rubbish.

The opinion seems to be that people with dementia don't matter. What a disgrace. These people have served their country in the armed forces, worked all their lives, paid their taxes, and they are not given the same consideration as younger people able to speak for themselves. Are they to be denied any quality of life or peace and quiet in the last years of their lives?

Would it be sited next to a children's home or school or a hospital? I don't think so.

Shame on you. Everyone has to grow old and there but for the Grace of God go you.
