The U3A walking group climbed Carn Ingli from Newport last week in glorious sunshine.

The little volcanic mountain (1,138-feet), also known as 'The rock of angels', is where the sixth century saint St. Brynach is said to have been granted angelic visions. It is also the inspiration of the eight volume Angel Mountain saga by local author Brian John.

After a steady climb, there were stunning views of the coast around Newport. Walkers were also lucky enough to hear the cuckoo calling.

A quicker descent led them to the Castle Inn and a welcome lunch.

A good day out. Thanks go to Peter for organising it.

U3A walker and stroller groups each meet twice a month. Future walks are planned for Narberth, St. Ishmaels and Carew.

U3A is a friendly organisation offering a diverse number of interest groups. Anyone interested in learning more, please ring (01834) 814196 or go to http://www.u3asites.org.uk/tenby">www.u3asites.org.uk/tenby
