A man and a woman tragically lost their lives in separate incidents in Pembrokeshire at the weekend.

A female motorcycle passenger was killed in an accident on the A40 on Saturday morning, while during the early hours of Sunday morning, a 33- year-old man died after being knocked down on his way home.

The first tragedy occurred at approximately 11 am on Saturday when a Blue Renault Clio and a black Triumph motorbike were in collision at the Llawhaden junction at Canaston Bridge.

The passenger on the motorbike, 45-year-old Karen Marie Boulcott, of Herbrandston, sustained fatal injuries. The rider of the motorbike sustained serious injuries.

Police later confirmed that the driver of the Renault Clio, believed to be from Carmarthenshire, had been arrested for an alleged traffic offence. He has been bailed.

Police are appealing for people who were travelling along the A40 between St. Clears and Haverfordwest and the A4076 between Cross Hands and Canaston Bridge at the time of the accident to contact PC Paul Rees, of the roads policing unit, at Haverfordwest police station, on 0845 330 2000.

Officers are also appealing for witnesses to the second accident on an unclassified road leading from Crymych School to Hermon.

Rhodri Wyn Jones from the Hermon area is believed to have come into contact with a vehicle as he walked home. He later died as a result of his injuries.

Mr. Jones had left Crymych RFC with friends and it was his intention to walk home. He was last seen entering the road near Ysgol y Preseli, leading in the direction of Hermon at about 2 am on Sunday. He was wearing a light coloured shirt and trousers and brown coloured footwear.

Police are continuing to appeal for any witnesses who may have seen or have information to assist enquiries into this incident.

Police are specifically asking for any person who would have driven on this road between 2 and 2.32 am to contact them on 0845 330 2000 and ask for Haverfordwest Police Station.

Police are eager to trace and speak to the driver of a light coloured transit type van which had been seen in the Crymych area between 1.30 and 2.30 am on Sunday.

It was noted the vehicle may have a fixture of some kind on its roof.

HM Coroner for Pembrokeshire has been informed about both fatalities and has opened inquests into them both.
