RNLI Angle's all-weather lifeboat launched at 7.14 pm on Friday, at the request of HM Coastguard, to take over the escort of a five-metre RIB from RNLI St. Davids all-weather lifeboat.
The RIB had been on passage from Neyland to Kilmore Quay in Ireland to take part in the Round Ireland Challenge when it hit a wave and the single-handed owner was thrown overboard.
He was later picked up by an RAF rescue helicopter from Chivenor and, after checking the man out to see that he was well, he was lowered into his RIB as the St. Davids lifeboat arrived on scene.
After discussions with the lifeboat crew, the casualty agreed to return to Neyland, due to the fact that he had been in the water for some time.
As a safety precaution, St. Davids lifeboat put one of its crew members on board the RIB, which was then escorted to St. Anne's Head to rendezvous with Angle lifeboat at 7.36 pm.
Angle lifeboat took over the escort, transferring one of its crew members on board, and headed for Neyland Marina with the RIB.
Once the RIB had been safely secured alongside the pontoon, the lifeboat stood by until coastguard personnel arrived.
The lifeboat was released to return to her station and was rehoused at 9.05 pm.
It was the first of two call-outs in three days for Angle's all weather lifeboat.
On Sunday, at 11.35 am, the lifeboat launched to a report of a capsized sailing boat with two persons in the water off Neyland Point.
The lifeboat made best speed to the casualties, reaching the scene in ten minutes. As the lifeboat's Y-boat was being deployed, the casualties called the lifeboat to report that they were safely ashore and needed no other assistance.
The lifeboat returned to her station, where she was rehoused at 12.15 pm.
Angle's inshore lifeboat was also tasked, but was stood down before being launched.
