Two men from Tenby have admitted an assault charge -but only after asking the judge what he would do to them.

Joseph Farrell, aged 20, and Daniel Storer, 19, attended Swansea Crown Court on Tuesday for what was planned to be the first day of their trial.

But Dyfed Thomas, the barrister representing Farrell, said that since the assault he had served a prison sentence for other offending.

Carina Hughes, representing Storer, said he was in a similar position.

The barristers said Judge Keith Thomas might consider that they had learned their lessons and asked if, should they plead guilty, he would suspend the sentence.

Judge Thomas said he could not guarantee non-custodial sentences, but he was prepared to consider pre-sentence reports prepared by a probation officer.

"It will depend on what is in the report," he added.

After a short adjournment, Farrell, of Church Park, and Storer, of Heathfield, Park Road, admitted assaulting a juvenile in 2012 causing bodily harm.

They were granted bail until November 8 when they will be sentenced.
