Sixteen alleged TV licence dodgers are due in court in Tenby next week.

And if found guilty, they will feel the full weight of TV Licensing's enforcement activity, for on top of paying off their fines, they will still have to pay for a £109 TV licence.

Doug Mullin, Wales and South West spokesman for TV Licensing, commented: "We have proved that those who break the law really do have to face the consequences. It's just not worth the risk."

He added: "A TV licence works out at 30p a day, less than the cost of a daily newspaper, and with so many payment schemes on offer there really is no excuse for licence evasion. It's not fair on the 23 million people who do pay."

The cases are due before the court next Thursday.
