Sir,
As headteacher of Greenhill School, I feel I must reply to the letter that was printed last week criticising our pupils for their behaviour on camera.
A very small minority of pupils may have behaved inappropriately in the background. Unfortunately, in our modern society, it seems to be an automatic response to a television film crew and cameras. We have witnessed similar behaviour from people of all ages in similar circumstances.
What the cameras did not pick up was the quiet and more respectful attitude of the vast majority of pupils.
The BBC, ITV, Sky and S4C camera crews all commented that they were highly impressed with the behaviour of pupils throughout the filming that day.
Our two-minute silence and the Remembrance Wreath Ceremony, in which all pupils participated, was an equally solemn and respectful ceremony.
We, as a school, greatly mourn the loss of anyone who loses their life too soon in tragic circumstances, especially Nicholas Webster-Smith.
Mrs. J. V. Kingston,
Headteacher,
Greenhill School,
Tenby
