Summer can be a really motivating time to get fit and lose weight, but what do we do when the sun has gone in and we retreat back into our houses? Weight Watchers has some great motivating tips to keep you on track right through autumn. • Salads may seem like a summer staple, but when the weather turns a bit cooler, why not try a warm salad. Onions, mushrooms, lettuce, French beans and watercress all work really well warm, as do freshly cooked strips of chicken or steak. • Pick up a pile of holiday brochures and start planning next year's holiday - that way you have something to work towards. • Get your holiday photos developed. Place in a prominent place (fridge or biscuit cupboard). Use these pictures to motivate you to stick to your healthy eating plan. • Christmas may seem a long way off yet, but having a Christmas weight goal can really help you stay focused over the next few months. • Think about what else you can achieve as well as weight loss. Colleges are taking enrolments for all kinds of courses over the next couple of weeks. Find out about sports or exercise classes, renew your interest in a new hobby or take up a completely new challenge. Any or all these will keep you occupied and away from food. • When losing weight, your body shape will change. Measure yourself once a month - seeing the inches as well as the pounds drop off will keep you inspired! • Even if you only lose half-a-pound a week, you could still be two stone lighter in 12 months time. Picture how you'll look then, especially if you add some activity to help change your shape. • Don't be put off if you can't attend regular Weight Watchers meetings - or even if you'd just rather lose weight on your own. Weight Watchers run an At Home programme or join Weight Watchers Online.
