Cycling turbo training sessions are taking place at Tenby Leisure Centre on Thursday nights at 8 pm. The training uses a standard racing bike or slick- tyred mountain bike fixed to a stationary trainer. The sessions can form a useful winter cycle work- out and are targeted at regular cyclists wishing to improve cycling technique and keep fit through the winter. The sessions are an hour-long and vary from week to week, typically including intervals, tempo riding and time trials. Ramp tests, to estimate maximum cycle heart rate, are regularly undertaken and sessions are then set, based on exertion level, so that individuals work within their own heart rate zones. At the moment people are bringing their own equipment (turbos, bikes and heart rate monitors). However, there are small number of turbos and HRM's available to use and eventually it is hoped that more equipment can be supplied. For more information, call Tenby Leisure Centre on (01834) 843575.
