Sir,

Like many others, I enjoy looking across the sea from Tenby and its surrounding vantage points. Towards Lundy Island and the north Devon coast, or perhaps enjoying the moonlight shining between Caldey and St. Margaret's as seen from the Ridgeway Penally. These are surely among the best views in the world.

Well it appears that soon, such enjoyment will be marred by up to 300 wind turbines, each up to 20 metres high (Caldey Lighthouse is 64 metres) which are planned to be built in 2015.

Atlantic Array wind turbines are not going to be out in the Atlantic, but right in the middle of the Bristol Channel just 12 miles from us, i.e. between the Pembrokeshire Coast and the Exmoor National Park, the Gower Heritage coast and Lundy Island Marine Nature Reserve. The giants will be painted white and illuminated at night, so one's eyes will inevitably be drawn to them.

Also, I find it strange that the Welsh Assembly Government is planning to stop anyone putting down lobster pots off Strumble Head or go rock-pooling at Dale on the grounds that it will disturb marine life, and yet sanction the destruction of miles of pristine sea-bed when these monstrosities are built.

Billy Stubbs,

Strawberry Villa,

Penally.
