An application to erect a wind turbine on land in Manorbier has been vetoed by members of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority's development management committee.
The application, submitted by Mr. S. Hambly, sought planning permission to put up the turbine at Spring Hill, located south off The Ridgeway.
Despite support for the plan from Manorbier Community Council, National Park officers recommended refusal as they believe that the siting and size of the turbine would have a detrimental effect on the special landscape character of the area.
"It is one of the most attractive unspoilt areas in the south and to put a wind turbine there would be sacrilege," commented Clr. Michael Williams at Wednesday's meeting. "Our priority surely must be to protect the landscape in this situation."
On a vote, the majority of members decided to refuse the application.
