Learners with the TULiP Project can continue to access free training in Pembrokeshire thanks to a further two years of funding from the Welsh Assembly Government through UNISON.

Over the last two years more than 600 people have benefited from the project and attended courses such as Count the Calories, Welsh in the Workplace and ICT.

Employees and family members of Pembrokeshire County Council and Pembrokeshire and Derwen NHS Trust are eligible to attend the community - and work-based training.

The availability of courses to family members has been a great success, encouraging many people back in to learning.

The 2004 TULiP Learner of the Year was awarded to Angela Mathias, of Neyland, whose husband works for Pembrokeshire County Council.

Angela was able to learn ICT skills through a Learning Pembrokeshire course and recently gained a certificate in CLAIT word processing - an excellent achievement in the last year.

Many of the catering and estates management staff at Withybush General Hospital have completed the 'Computing for the Terrified' and 'Introduction to the Internet' courses held at the hospital, gaining ICT skills and certificates from Pembrokeshire College.

Those who want to continue training can go on to join the ECDL programme run by the NHS Access to Learning team.

The project works in partnership with local training providers to offer a variety of training across Pembrokeshire. If you would like further details of the TULiP Project, please ring Hazel Marsh on 01437 776424 or Jackie Owen on 01436 776460.
