Lovers of books, beginners and established readers, teachers and students in community learning settings, enjoyed a Book Swap morning at the Haverfordwest Community Learning Centre on Tuesday, July 7. This is the second year the event has taken place - a follow-on from the 2008 National Year of Reading celebrations in Pembrokeshire.

Tutors and students from the community learning literacy classes brought along over a hundred books which were put out on tables outside the centre lounge. Everyone who came along to the Book Swap was invited to choose a few titles to take home and no-one left without something new to read.

Chris Stephens (Reading for Life co-ordinator) and Marilyn Miller (adult Basic Skills co-ordinator) organised book-related activities and quizzes. Everyone signed a 'graffiti' book poster, including their dreamed-of character from a favourite novel.

Eva John (adviser for Basic Skills and Literacy) also joined the community basic skills literacy tutors, Frances Allen, Sara Gill, Jenni Griffiths and Liz Jones and the adult learners to talk about books while enjoying a cup of coffee and some of the home-made cakes - also prepared and donated by the tutors.

Later in the morning, parents picking up their children from the Cylch also browsed the books and chose some to take home.
