Work on a major road reconstruction of Tenby's Tudor Square started this week as part of the 'Tudor Square Enhancement' programme.
The Pembrokeshire County Council scheme involves the construction of a new layout of the carriageway and footway within the square.
Traffic lights are in use to control the flow of traffic through the square, while parking is restricted.
"Taxi drivers won't be able to park in Tudor Square as normal, due to the lane system which will be in place for three weeks, so it's not a good moment in time for motorists, with Frog Street closed too," said PC Nigel Lewis to members of Tenby Town Council at their meeting on Tuesday night.
The highway reconstruction work is expected to take up to three weeks, although enhancement work will continue into December.
Work will cease for the Christmas period, before starting again in January. It is expected the programme will be completed by May.
