Ian Williams recently took part in the British Fell Championship at Edinburgh and came sixth, being the first Welshman to finish. Carwyn Phillips took part in the 20-mile trail at Brecon and came second. Tony Shell and John Joseph sucessfully completed the 10-mile Great South Run.
The first run of this year's Gwent League was held in Bridgend. An excellent turnout of 17 TROT runners participated, making up two male and one female teams. The ladies did very well, scoring the second highest points out of all the teams on the day.
Positions were as follows: Men - Dean John 55th, Peter Griffith 72nd, Ian Morris 184th, Cyril Walters 215th, Adrian Varney 280th, Ron Morgan 284th, Ritchie Jones 286th, Mike Hodges 308th, Tom Furness 315th and Patrick Powell 316th. Ladies - Ann Thomas 20th, Claire Clethero 38th, Mary Bowen Rees 42nd, Ann Rowell 84th, Pauline Thomas 101st, Susan Thomas 163rd and Carolyn Powell 187th.
