The football festival held at Aberaeron recently was the scene of a triple success for the girl footballers from the Pembrokeshire Football Coaching Centre. Playing under the name of Pembrokeshire Panthers, two under 15 teams and one under 12 team were entered and they achieved exceptional results. The Under 12s, under the guidance of coach Dan Bellis, fought their way to the final, losing eventually by a single goal scored in extra-time. Both under 15 sides qualified to reach the final, after resisting strong pressure from some good sides. After a close and hard fought match, the A team beat the B team, again by a single goal, rounding of a very pleasing and successful day, and end to the season, both for the players and coach Carrie Slack. Centre director and football development officer Gerry Rigby said: "Pembrokeshire can be very proud of this next generation of young football talent which will serve the county well in the coming years, and with the new women's league re- commencing in September, will ensure quality players coming through the system."
