Three local friends, are pushing to reach their fundraising goal for a local charity, after completing an exhausting challenge last month.

The intrepid trio of Louis Elston of Saundersfoot, Owain Coombs of Begelly, and Tenby’s Jim Brace, recently completed a 72 mile walk from St Annes Head to Tenby along the coast path in 25.5 hours, without any sleep, in order to raise money for Mind Pembrokeshire and awareness for eco therapy (the idea that engaging with natural spaces can help tackle mental health issues).

“The walk was largely successful, and we were lucky enough to receive amazing support from our friends and family and avoided the rain, until at 6 am at Freshwater East, the heavens opened and for the last 3.5 hours we were soaked!” said Louis.

“Our aim is to inspire and promote honest conversations around mental health issues as well as promote the concept of ecotherapy.

“This is the idea that through engaging with natural environments you can prevent and treat mental health issues.

“The one thing which has helped us through all the challenges over the last year has been getting outside, getting active and reconnecting with nature and the Welsh countryside,” he continued.

The trio have managed to raise a magnificent £3,552 so far for the charity, and are aiming to reach the £4,000 mark for the cause.
