Tributes have been paid to a man from Pembroke who has died whilst on holiday in Ibiza.

Twenty-four-year-old Grant Weston was killed after falling from a hotel balcony on Wednesday.

He had been on holiday in San Antonio with a large group of friends from the Pembroke area when the tragedy happened.

The local football team that he played for, Hundleton AFC, pulled out of their game with Pennar Robins, on Wednesday evening in the Stephen 'Weaver' Callan Memorial tournament, as a mark of respect.

The team's manager Mark Powell paid tribute to the player, calling him "a genuine lad".

"He had everything to live for and it's so cruel that he has been taken away from us," he remarked.

"He had a brilliant sense of humour and I have known him for the past eight years.

"It's a shock, I feel for his family and he will be a great loss to our football club."

Club committee member Paul Jones added: "He was a lovely lad. Quiet, but very likeable, and he was an excellent footballer.

"We are devastated by this tragic event and he will be sadly missed. Our hearts reach out to his family at this extremely sad time."

A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We can confirm the death of a British national, Grant Weston, in Ibiza on August 14.

"We are providing consular assistance to the family at this difficult time."

Grant lived with his parents Kim and Sheila, and younger brother Robert.
