Saundersfoot Community Council have paid tribute to a stalwart councillor who passed away this week.

“It is with great sadness that Saundersfoot Community Council announce the sudden death of Clr. Ronald Sydney Brabon on December 15,” said a spokesperson for the council.

’Known to all as Ronnie, Clr. Brabon had served his community for almost 40 years.

Not a native of Saundersfoot, he held the village in the highest esteem and worked hard as chair of the grounds committee to ensure that the village was kept in good order and was very keen to support businesses and everyone involved in the tourist industry in Saundersfoot. With a keen eye for detail, he often had a very long list of jobs that needed to be done to make sure that Saundersfoot looked its very best for residents and visitors.

Saundersfoot Community Council has recently negotiated with Pembrokeshire County Council to have the Sensory Garden transferred to the community for its long-term security and benefit of all. It was Clr. Brabon who brought that suggestion to council in the summer of this year and he was extremely pleased last month to hear that the Sensory Garden would be preserved for the village.

It could be truly said of Clr. Ronnie Brabon that ‘he loved Saundersfoot.’
