Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club, in association with TriExercise of Milford Marina, are running three triathlon taster sessions ahead of the Pembrokeshire Coast Triathlon on July 11.
Each session will focus on one aspect of the event, so are ideal for those tackling the event individually or as a relay team. The sessions will also give expert tips on the transitions from one discipline to the next. Each will be run by qualified British Triathlon coaches and will use the actual courses that the event will use.
The cycle (43k) is first up on Sunday, May 24, followed by a run session (10k) on Tuesday, May 26. Finally, the swim session takes place on Monday, June 8, and wetsuit company 2XU will be on hand to give advice and have wetsuits to try out. The sessions are aimed at those that have already entered the event, or are thinking of doing so. Entries for the event close on June 27.
Booking is essential for each taster session. Telephone Ellie on 07974 199887 to reserve a space. All proceeds from the taster sessions will be donated to the Wales Air Ambulance, the nominated charity for the event.
Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club is also celebrating the award of the STAR mark, a national accreditation that recognises the high standards the club has achieved and gives the club quality status. It is one of a handful of clubs in Wales to achieve this, and recognises standards in club management, coaching and competition, sports equity and ethics, and health and safety.
In what has been a busy period for the club, their own super-sprint triathlon was held on April 26 at the new Leisure Centre in Haverfordwest, with 29 people taking part, including 12 novices. First male and female were Alex Matchett and Lynn Green, and first novice male and female were Billy Breckon and Clare Williams.
On the same day, Luke and Jake Watson were competing in the National Junior Duathlon Championships in Loughborough, taking first and second place in the Welsh Championships in the process.
