Trevor Hallett one of Tenby’s best known characters and respected town councillors - has sadly passed away, leaving a legacy of service to the community.
Cllr Hallett was still a member of Tenby Town Council, where he served as Mayor first back in 1996, before returning to fill the role of the town's First Citizen ten years later in 2006, and again in 2011 and 2012.
In 2023, Cllr Hallett, alongside fellow Tenby Town Council stalwart, Sue Lane, became the first people to receive the ‘Freedom of the Town’ in over five decades.

First elected to the Town Council in 1987, Cllr Hallett was well-known for his environmental and ecological interests.
Born in Monkton, Pembroke, Clr. Thomas John Trevor Hallett moved at an early age to East Minerton, Devonshire Drive, where his parents ran a smallholding and agricultural contracting business and later a small touring caravan complex.
Educated in St. Florence and Coronation Schools, he worked in construction contracting for a number of years, until he and his late wife, Marjorie, opened a painting and decorating shop in Upper Frog Street, with Clr. Hallett retiring in 1994 due to ill- health.

Clr. Hallett, of 1 Cogmill Cottage, The Green, was the nephew of a much-remembered figure in local government, the late Miss Winnie Hallett.
In paying tribute, current Mayor if Tenby, Cllr Dai Morgan remarked: “Trevor will be remembered as a thoughtful and dedicated councillor, a respected colleague, and a friend to many. He gave his time generously in service to the town he loved, and his contribution to Tenby will not be forgotten.
“On behalf of Tenby Town Council, myself and members we extend our sincere and heartfelt condolences to Trevor’s family and friends at this very sad time.
“He will be greatly missed, and we are grateful for his many years of service to Tenby.”

Fellow Town Councillor Laurence Blackhall said: "I am grateful for Trevor's friendship during my time on Town Council. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of the town, was passionate about the environment, loved Tenby and more importantly loved people."
County Councillor for Tenby’s South Ward, Cllr Sam Skyrme-Blackhall said: "His service to the Town is exemplary, not just as a Councillor for nearly 40 years but also as a Trustee of the Museum & Art Gallery and as a member of the Civic Society.
“Trevor was hugely knowledgeable and always generous in sharing that knowledge with others. I send condolences to his family. I will miss him and the town is the poorer for his passing."

A spokesperson for Tenby Town Council remarked: “It is with deep sadness that we mark the passing of Councillor Trevor Hallett, a long serving member of Tenby Town Council and a dedicated servant to the community he cared so deeply about.
“He had a great love for Tenby, particularly its natural history and environmental heritage. Trevor took a keen and active interest in environmental matters and was a strong advocate for protecting and appreciating the town’s unique coastline, wildlife, and natural surroundings.
“His knowledge and passion in this area were widely recognised and respected.”
