Ladies Night
Friday night saw the Trefloyne Ladies section out in force for their annual dinner in the terrace restaurant.
With over 30 ladies in attendance, it was a wonderful start to the year for new lady captain, Chris Collinson, and with so much to celebrate from last season's golf, the ladies were ready to party.
The event was extra special this year as it was a celebration of winning the Three Counties League for the second time in three years. All the ladies were in fine form, and had a catch-up whilst enjoying a two-course meal.
The presentation was kicked off by Ann Dassen congratulating Chris on a superb year as the Three Counties captain.
Chris, or CC as she is affectionately known, proceeded with the evening's presentations. First up was Fair Ball for winning the Homestead Trophy and All Winners Shield, plus a monthly medal, while Ann Morgan braved the Friday snow in the Rhondda to ensure she was there to collect the Endeavour Shield.
Ann Dassen was presented with the Order of Merit and Dorrit Parry Vase. Eunice Parkes won the breakthrough brooch.
The final presentation was made to Beth McMann and Fair Ball, who won the West Wales Jubilee Foursomes Cup. CC congratulated Beth and Fair on a fantastic victory after such a nail-biting match - and that was just for the spectators! Well done girls.
CC finished the formalities by thanking all the ladies for attending and expressing how much she was looking forward to her year as captain. She also wanted to make all lady members aware that there is a position on the ladies' committee and would welcome anyone wishing to put their names forward.
The evening then progressed with music from member Wendy Derrick, which put the ladies in great Christmas spirit. Thank you Linda for the song sheets. The ladies then adjourned to the bar to reminisce over the past year's golf and to look forward to next season.
A special thank you to head professional Oliver Duckett and his assistant James Maxwell for all their help and support this year and their bravery in attending the evening; it certainly added to the fun.
Thanks also to Sarah, Tom, Gareth and Pip for great food and smiley service.
The ladies' committee would like to remind all the ladies that Christmas lunch is being held on December 21, starting with nine holes of golf, followed by Christmas lunch, secret Santa and more socialising!
Junior News
The junior section is holding a 12-hole Texas Scramble on December 12, with tee times from 12 noon - teams of one adult and three juniors.
Following the competition, a junior dinner will be held, plus a golf competition on the Wii.
There will also be a non-members coaching session this Sunday with Oliver at 12:30 pm.
The junior section looks forward to welcoming you all.
OTHER NEWS
All members are reminded that this weekend is the December monthly medal - tee times and thermals are available from the pro shop!
Although the weather has been crisp and cold, some brave souls have been taking on the golf course and actually coming in to saying how warm it was... think they may have been in the Caribbean and not on Trefloyne golf course!
