Thank you to everyone who played in the championship and, although numbers were up on the previous year, it would be nice to see even more members enter next year as it is a major event in our calendar and open to players of all abilities.
Texas Scramble
On Bank Holiday Monday, Trefloyne held a Texas Scramble, courtesy of the Beynons. With the sun shining and everyone in high spirits, the members descended on the course and parted to their separate tees for a shotgun start.
In third place with 58.25 were Darrell Jones, Graham Harrison, Hilary Alexander and Hazel Garrod. Finishing second were Greg Palin, Robin Lloyd, Jason Palin and Colin Rowe with 58. Winners with a magnificent 52.375 were Keith Hubbard, Anna Hubbard, Alun Phillips and Iwan Phillips.
Unfortunately, nearest the pin for ladies and juniors was not won by anyone and for the men it was Trevor Lewis.
Junior longest drive went to Iwan Phillips, with Michelle Richards winning for the ladies and Robin Lloyd for the men.
Many thanks to the Beynons for providing an excellent BBQ on the terrace for all members who played in the event, and this was then followed by the presentation of the club championship awards.
Mid-week competitions
The mid-week pro's stableford held on August 31 for the gents was unfortunately only entered by four members, even though it was pretty good golfing conditions.
Angelo Zeraschi finished first with 25 points, winning himself £8 credit, while Zack Zeraschi came second with 24.
There were no birdie twos, so the bag draw went to Garfield Price, earning himself £4 credit.
The mid-week stableford competition for the ladies was a little better supported, with eight players entering.
Liz Crockford finished in first place with 30 points, while Lind Coward came second with 29.
Again there were no birdies scored on the day, so the bag draw went to Vicky Day, winning her £7 pro-shop credit.
