Ladies' News

The midweek competition held on Tuesday, August 17, saw the ladies compete in a captain versus vice-captain stableford. The entrants in each team were made by draw and it was encouraging to see 19 ladies enter.

It was a very close fought competition, with the captain's team, led by ladies' captain Christine Lewis, winning by one point against the vice-captain's team which was mentored by Chris Collinson.

Forty points was scored by the overall winner on the day, Michelle Richards, who achieved a handicap reduction of two shots from 15 to 13. Second place went to Lind Coward with 34 and close behind on 33 and finishing third was Heather Thorne.

Three birdies were scored on the day, with Anna Hubbard, Linda Kromrei and Michelle Richards all getting £6.33 credit for their efforts.

On Friday, the ladies travelled to Cardigan Golf Club to play in the last Three Counties match of the season. True to their form the ladies won 3.5 to 1.5, which means that they are undefeated all season.

Congratulations to all the ladies, Trefloyne are Three Counties champions in 2010!

To celebrate their win, a social evening was organised on Saturday and a jolly good time was had by all on the special themed 'lilac' (in honour of Barry Thorne) night.

Saturday, August 21, was the annual Hen and Chick trophy competition and, although numbers were low due to very wet and soggy weather conditions, everyone seemed in good spirits.

Young Bethan Morris came first with 37 points and in second place was Michelle Richards with 33.

Men's News

Saturday's stableford competition was entered by 17 gents which, considering the appalling weather, was not a bad turnout.

The three winners on the day all achieved handicap reductions, so as you can guess the scoring was high.

In first place with an astonishing 40 points was Neil Truman, reducing his handicap by two shots to 22. In second place on countback was John Calleja with 39, reducing his handicap to 14, while also finishing on 39 and reducing his handicap to 14 was Adam Thorne.

Surprisingly, considering the high scores, there were no birdie 2s returned on the day and a bag draw took place, rewarding G. Thomas and A. Jones with £8.50 credit each.
