Ladies' Section

Our Tuesday stableford competition last week was won by Lind Cowerd, who has now come off the 36 handicap she was awarded in February and is down to 35. Congratulations Lind, we are sure that this is just the start of a number of reductions.

Second with 32 points was Ann Dassen, just beating Heather Thorne by a point on the back nine. The bag draw was won by Chris Collinson.

Saturday's weather was pretty dismal, but undeterred, some took to the fairway. Others were probably sensible when they turned back on the first tee.

The three prize winners looked like drowned rats when they came back in, but it's amazing what some hot food, some cheerful teasing from Graham and a drink can do to lift your spirits.

The winner was Ann Dassen, who obviously finds wet greens easier than dry, as her putting was far better than normal. She returned 40 points and gets her second handicap reduction in a month, now being down to 24. Second was Michelle Richards with 32 points and winner of the birdie competition - with two of them! Sue Ensor came a close third.

The matchplay competitions for 2009 have all reached the semi-final stage, with some new faces doing very well, especially in the Alice Shapcott mixed competition. Alun Phillips and Lind Cowerd beat last year's winners, Paul Howells and Michelle Richards; Mark Ensor and Liz Crockford beat mother and son partnership, Heather and Adam Thorne; father and daughter Jeremy and 12-year-old Bethan Morris beat Dave and Beth McMann and Trevor Lewis and Chris Collinson beat Barry Thorne and Linda Kromrei.

In the Ladies Millforge Perpetual Singles, we have Michelle Richards to play Ann Dassen in one semi-final and Heather Thorne to play last year's champion, young Bethan Morris.

Don't forget the Professional/Lady Captain Charity Challenge. Full details are in the clubhouse. Any pair (women, men and/or juniors) may challenge Oliver and Ann, with proceeds going to charity. Please contact the Pro Shop to arrange a time with us.

FUN NIGHT TONIGHT

All are welcome to join us this evening for a nine-hole mystery stableford, where you will be awarded extra points on three secret holes. As always, there will be hot food available when we come in and a fun raffle. This is an excellent chance to meet more members and beginners to the game and juniors are very welcome.
