Seniors' Alan Chapman Trophy

The first game of the Alan Chapman Trophy took place on Thursday, April 16. Twenty-eight players had entered, but unfortunately two were unable to make the first match. The 26 players were teamed into threes and all teed-off the first, looking forward to having a good game on a fine weathered day.

All players came back stating they had enjoyed the day and were looking forward to a pint and bacon roll out on the terrace.

All cards were checked and the results were as follows: 1. Jack Zeraschi (36 pts); 2. Bob Burks (34); 3. Gary Hopkins (33, back nine). All receive pro-shop vouchers.

The next game will be on Thursday, May 21.

Fun Night

Once again there was a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere at Trefloyne last Friday, April 24, with the start of the summer fun nights.

With the rain holding off, the format was the popular Texas Scramble to integrate men, ladies and junior members, even those who have not yet obtained their handicaps were welcome to join in. Family members also joined the players as they came in for the tempting food from the bar menu provided by the Tiesings.

Linda Kromrei, back in the role of organiser, welcomed Trefloyne new professional Oliver Duckett and thanked Helen and Arno, Tiesings, for the catering.

Before presenting the prizes, not mentioning, any names she pointed out that there were members who had not paid attention to the rules on the number of drives a player had to take, and before she could finish expressing the importance of checking information and rules given regarding a competition, a certain Trevor Lewis was bobbing up and down in his seat claiming responsibility with roars of laughter coming from the gathered players.

Once the laughter died down, Linda presented the prizes as follows: 4. Daniel Tiesing, Mark, Sue and Lewis Ensor with nett 31.88; 3. Alun Phillips, Iwan Phillips, Anne Morgan and Hannah Morgan with nett 30.69; 2. Bethan Morris, Christina Collinson, Chris Lewis and Linda Kromrei with nett 27.38; 1. Elliot John, Pat Casement and yes Trevor Lewis with nett 26.09.

Linda reminded players that had this not been a fun night, Trevor and Co's error would have meant that they would normally be disqualified. So be warned!

Next the raffle and more bobbing up and down as one particular junior member, little Morgan Duckett walked off with nearly all the prizes, although he wasn't keen on the bag of compost.

To finish the evening, Linda announced that players taking part in each of the fun nights would be rewarded with an automatic entry into a fun night players only draw being held on the August Bank Holiday Texas Scramble. Finally, she thanked Sue Ensor and Christina Collinson for their help and everyone's support.

The next fun night will be a flag competition on May 22, so make a note and book your tee-time from 5 pm onward for yet another enjoyable evening.
