JUNIOR PRESENTATION

Monday, March 2 saw Trefloyne's juniors travelling to Machynys for the presentation of the PGA Glenmuir's best junior section in Wales 2008.

Eight juniors were given the opportunity to play the Machynys links, while James Maxwell and professional Christine took part in a four ball better ball pro-am.

Despite the blustery, cold and wet conditions, all juniors enjoyed the opportunity awarded to them and found the opportunity challenging, and of benefit to their golfing improvement.

Special mention must be made of Bethan Morris and Billy Truman, who led the scoring and won themselves six Titleist Pro V1 golf balls.

A welcome meal following play, courtesy of the Trefloyne junior academy, helped warmed the insides of everyone. Presentation of the plaque was made to the junior captain, Dan Edwards, after play, with all the juniors looking resplendent in the new junior team uniform, courtesy of Glenmuir.

Trefloyne achieve double over Tenby

Following their win of the Three Counties League last year, Trefloyne Ladies have made a spectacular start to their 2009 season, with a double triumph over Tenby ladies.

As reported last week, the Trefloyne pair of Vicky Burks and Sue Shooter won the Daily Mail Foursomes at Tenby.

Last Friday, Trefloyne had a home draw against Tenby in the second round of the Mail on Sunday, team of five, matchplay competition.

Spirits were high, despite the miserable weather.

Trefloyne Ladies triumphed with a comfortable win of 4.5 to .5. The results were as follows: Sheila Phillips bt Marion Clarke 8 and 7; Vicky Burks bt Ann Wilks 7 and 6; Linda Kromrei bt Anita Davies 7 and 6; Kristalle Blum bt Jean Charnock 4 and 2; Michelle Richard and Gillian Roberts halved.

Both teams were glad to return to the open fire in the clubhouse and enjoy Arno's excellent food. We hope that next year we will meet our local friends at a much later stage in both competitions.

Adult/Junior Trophy

Last Sunday saw eight juniors turn up, with their adult partners, to brave the wind and rain to play the 12-hole junior/adult trophy competition. Everyone was in high spirits, especially last year's winners, Beth and Jeremy Morris. Unfortunately, they were beaten into second place by son and dad team, Henrik and Harri Jaakola.

They didn't think they had won and so decided to carry on playing the rest of the course, only for Christine to dash out and collect them, so they could be presented with their trophy.

The final score was Henrik and Harri 23 pts and Beth and Jeremy 21.
