Seniors FINALE
For the last home match of the season, Trefloyne entertained Milford Golf Club. Once again the weather was clement and the course was in very good condition. In a close fought contest, six of the nine games were decided after the 16th. Home advantage played its part, Trefloyne winning the match seven to two.
Results as follows: John James and Bob Maxwell won 5 and 4; Pat Casement and Ivan Kirk won 2 and 1; Trevor Lewis and Terry Harvey won 4 and 3; Gerald John and Wyn Hopkins halved; John Bancroft and Roger Cryer won 3 and 2; Graham Harrison and Bob Burks won 6 and 4; Jack Zaraschi and Derek Jones halved; Gary Hopkins and Barry Wood won one up; and finally, Garfield Price and John Shaw lost 2-1.
We would all like to thank Helen and Anne for looking after so many hungry golfers during the season.
We come to the last game of this season, an away trip to the dunes of Tenby Golf Club. The course was a treat to play on, well manicured greens, good fairways and uninviting rough!
Following their defeat at Trefloyne, Tenby were out for revenge, led by next season's captain, Brian Waters. With the first five results in, it was looking bleak for Tenby, being 4-1 down. However, the next three games went to the home side to bring the teams level.
Game nine went to Trefloyne, what would the final game result be? Another Trefloyne win, giving an overall victory by 6-4.
Results as follows: John James and Darrell Jones beat Brian Waters and Des Stone 6 and 4; Bob Maxwell and Rob Evans lost 2 and 1 to Rod Clarke and Russell Clarke; Jack Zaraschi and Alan Chapman beat Peter Williams and J. D. R. Williams 3 and 2; Roger Cryer and Barry Wood beat Stan Hudson and Paul Nixon 7 and 6; Bob Burks and Keith Hubbard beat Bob Howes and John Hall 3 and 2; Dennis Busby and David Owen lost 8 and 7 to Richard Davies and Nigel Rimell; Terry Harvey and Wayne Connett lost by two to Martin Neilan and Brian Morgan; Trevor Lewis and Wyn Hopkins lost 2 and 1 to Geoff Aston and Alan Yates; Derek Jones and Pat Casement beat Roy Morgan and Owen Monaghan 3 and 2; and lastly, Graham Harrison and Glyn Latcham beat Dave Morgan and Mike Fox 4 and 3.
Well played Trefloyne, thank you all for your support during the season, hope to see you all for the end of year stableford and meal, plus AGM, on December 18 - notices will go up next month.
Also, many thanks to Tenby for their hospitality, and congratulations to the catering staff for an excellent meal.
