Scratch Cup
September 16 saw the first Trefloyne Challenge Knockout Trophy commence. This was made up from the top eight scorers from this year's club championships. The quarter-finals were as follows: Ben Price (seeded 1) v Andrew Burgess (8). Ben won, taking him through to the semi-finals. Graham Willcocks (4) v Martin Yates (5). Martin won, taking him through to play Ben. James Maxwell (2) v Graham Blum (7). James won a place in the semis against Dylan Phillips (seeded 3), who beat Matthew McMann (6). The semi-finals were played on October 7. Ben beat Martin and got himself a place in the final against James, who beat Dylan. The final was played last Saturday and, despite the rain, the two young men had a good game. Ben went on to win the trophy 3 and 2. Well done to everyone.
RESULTS
Masters Shield: Gareth Roberts nett 70 won from Simon Arthur 71. Twenty-five competed. The Ian Lawrence (held for non-trophy winners): Sam Fletcher 35 points won from Jack Zeraschi 31. Sixteen competed. Ladies All-Winners Classic: A. Morgan nett 75, O. Maher 77, S. Crowley 77. The Endeavour Shield for non-trophy winners: J. Jenkins won the shield. Birdie 2s: Heather Thorne, Kirstalle Blum - both receive £7 credit in the pro-shop. Pat Casement, Graham Blum, Dave Crowley and Martin Yates - all winning £10 credit for the pro- shop.
FORTHCOMING EVENTS
Saturday, October 27: South African Stableford. Open to all members, with prizes for first, second and third. Entry list and details are in the pro-shop. Sunday, October 28: Running for eight weeks is the Autumn Eclectic. Details and entry list also in the pro-shop. Tuesday, October 30: Half-term. There is a matchplay competition for juniors, seniors and ladies. Tee-off will be at 10 am. The entry form is on the pro-shop door. The junior presentation will be on Friday, November 23, at 6.30 pm. All details will be sent in the post, along with winter clinic dates. Make a note in your diaries for Saturday, December 1. This will be the main club presentation evening and dinner-dance. Details will follow soon, but make sure you book early.
