Trains to and from Pembrokeshire were disrupted on Wednesday after a railhead treatment train derailed at Whitland. The front locomotive of the train, used to remove leaves from the line, derailed at approximately 4 am, with the vehicle behind it being partly derailed. The incident resulted in trains from Whitland bound for Pembroke Dock and Fishguard being replaced by buses. A spokeswoman for Network Rail said that the train was re-railed at approximately 2.30 pm. However, damage was caused to the track, but repairs were expected to have been completed and the line re- opened by the early hours of yesterday (Thursday).
