A very successful trip to the Botanic Gardens in September opened the autumn session and many members and their friends were amazed at the great strides that had been made there over the last two or three years (writes J. G.).
For those unable to face the walking involved, there seemed to be buggies everywhere and the very friendly volunteers insisted that we made full use of them.
We timed our arrival very well to coincide with the start of the lunch hour so avoiding the queues and there were certainly no complaints about the food which was delicious. Our thanks go to all members of staff at the gardens who helped to make this a most enjoyable day.
Our speaker for October was Glynis James who works as a mediator with the family courts. Telling us of her work for which it was obvious she is very well qualified and well suited and which requires great empathy with her clients - but also on many occasions needs great tact, diplomacy, and a touch of the steel hand in the velvet glove!
Many questions were asked during and after the most enlightening talk proving the great interest which was shown by all members and certainly made us count our blessings. Thank you Glynis for fitting us into what we know was a very hectic day, we are most grateful.
On Tuesday, October 21, our singing group is going to help with the Harvest Festival at Park House Residential Home and on Thursday, October 23, some of us will be in Swansea for the Social Studies Day when the programme will be presented by Gail Foley from 'Colour me Beautiful'.
Our next meeting will be on Thursday, November 6, when the Rev. Nanette Lewis-Head will be making a very welcome return visit. This will take place in St. Johns Schoolroom at 2.15 pm, when we shall be very glad to welcome any visitors.
