Tenby Town Council has been given the go-ahead by the Fire Authority to lease the public toilet facilities on the South Parade during the summer. The toilets have been closed because the block is to be taken over as part of a re-development of facilities at the town's fire station. At their meeting on Tuesday evening, town councillors agreed that they should pay for the licence of the facilities, which they could open from 9 am to 9 pm to the public each day of the week. "I propose we go ahead with this, we need these toilets open for the public," said Mayor, Clr. John Griffiths. The town clerk told members that the toilets could be re-opened in time for the weekend. Meanwhile, councillors agreed that they should go forward with a public petition to open public toilet facilities within the town walls. "We need to get this petition going in the next few weeks, as writing to county council with our concerns is proving to be a waste of time," added Clr. Griffiths.
