Three local athletes have been honoured by Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, for their achievements as part of the Welsh team that competed in the Special Olympics Summer Games in Bath this August.

At a special ceremony in the Mayor's Parlour on Tuesday evening, swimmers Joe Andrews and Richard Young, and gymnast Victoria Walters were presented with Recognition of Achievement certificates to mark their success.

Pembrokeshire Puffin Joe struck gold in the 50m backstroke and 50m front crawl and bronze in the 4x100m relay and was placed fifth in the 100m freestyle, while fellow Puffin Richard picked up a bronze in the 50m backstroke, fourth place in the 4x100m relay, sixth in the 100m freestyle and seventh in the 50m freestyle.

In a highly competitive field Victoria, a member of PSNGC, was placed fifth in the vault, fifth in the a-bars, fifth in the floor and fourth on the beam, earning her fifth place overall.

Three longserving Tenby firefighters were presented with Mayoral certificates of Recognition of Achievement by Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, on Tuesday, to mark their retirement from the Brigade.

Watch manager Dicky Lewis stepped down in August after nearly 40 years service, along with crew manager Martin Hurlow (nearly 35 years service) and firefighter Gwyn John (41 years service).

The trio were honoured for their collective 115 years meritorious service to the town and the brigade at a special reception in the Mayor's Parlour on Tuesday evening.
