Narberth Town Council have objected to a planning application in respect of the town's derelict old primary school.

An application was recently received by the council for demolition of the former school buildings and erection of a convenience food store and non-food retail units, betting shop, cafe, hot food takeaway, day nursery and residential apartments with associated car parking and delivery area. Realignment of existing accesses, car parking and public space were also included.

After discussing the application, members objected due to lack of consultation with the community or the town council.

Other concerns raised at the meeting included highways infrastructure for the town, access to the public car park and road safety, insufficient parking provision for the dwellings compounding the already critical lack of parking, the development not being complementary to the ethos of current trading and sole vehicular access to the Town Moor Village Green being blocked.
