PLANED's Inclusive Tourism Network recently enjoyed a buffet dinner with guest speaker Brian Seaman from Tourism for All (formerly Holiday Care) at the Queen's Hall in Narberth. Tourism for All/Holiday Care has provided information to disabled people on accessible accommodation across Britain and Europe for over 20 years. Brian works closely with many tourism businesses to increase accessibility of their premises. Brian spoke at length about the Disability Discrimination Act, the barriers facing disabled people on a daily basis and how these barriers can be overcome. A number of local tourism business people attended the event, including Bobbie King, chairman of Pembrokeshire Hotels and Restaurant Association, who felt that the evening was "very interesting and brought to the forefront the importance of the new access law and what all accommodation providers have to try to do under the Disability Discrimination Act. "It was excellent and a thoroughly enjoyable evening," he said afterwards. The event was part funded by EU European Regional Development Fund (Objective 1). If you would like further information on how you can improve the accessibility of your tourism business, please contact Sarah Pugh at PLANED on (01834) 862105.
