Pembrokeshire's tourism related industries were again to the fore this week for the third annual West Wales Hospitality Careers Festival.
Co-ordinated by Springboard UK, the festival is an industry-wide thrust designed to grab the attention of potential recruits of every age, parents, teachers, job centre staff and the general public to change their perceptions of hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism and encourage them to look more favourably on the industry as a provider of quality jobs and careers.
The activities and events kicked off on Monday with a series of skills challenges.
Held at the De Valence Pavilion, Tenby and the Glamorgan Raquets Club, Llandarcy, the challenge involved teams of students in a series of 'Generation Game' style events whereby different industry skills like bed-making, cocktail-making and fitness testing, were demonstrated, before the students had a go themselves.
Tuesday morning saw GNVQ students at Tenby's Greenhill School launching their own town trail of Tenby at the town's Fourcroft Hotel.
Accompanied by a party of Year Six children from Tenby Junior School armed with specially designed activity packs, the students took a tour of the town's historical sites and modern day attractions, before ending up at Kiln Park for a disco.
Tuesday also saw a special edition of Ready, Steady, Cook in Carmarthen when schoolchildren chose a bag of ingredients for local modern apprentices to cook up a meal.
Carmarthen was the location for two more events on Wednesday, including an insight into the workings of an RAF field kitchen and an exploration of the hospitality opportunities on both a local and international basis by primary school children from the town and students at Q. E. Cambria School.
On Thursday, focus switched to Swansea, with the launch of an updated version of last year's highly successful Maritime Tourist Trail, which was followed by a lunch and presentations to invited guests on the opportunities within the industry at Neath Port Talbot College.
Today (Friday), students and pupils from local schools are being invited to prepare a special lunch for invited employers at Pembrokeshire College, while there will also be a 'hands on' experience for school pupils in the catering department of Neath Port Talbot College.
Neath Port Talbot College will also be the venue tomorrow (Saturday) for a look at its regular Saturday Club, before the festival rounds off on Monday by celebrating National Groundhog Day.
Throughout the week, local primary schools throughout south Pembrokeshire also continued with the successful Run a Restaurant initiative.
